In what turned out to be a slightly rocky season (to say the least), Arsenal played a total of 54 matches. Their win tally of 25 games gave them a win rate of under 50% for the first time since George Graham’s tenure ended in the mid 90s, clocking in at just 46.3%.
They finished 8th in the Premier League, below Wolves in 7th, with just 56 points – almost half that of Liverpool at the top. They also participated in the EFL Cup where they were knocked out in the 4rth round by Liverpool in a 5-5 thriller that ended with penalties; and the Europa League in which Olympiacos knocked them out in the Round of 32.
Despite a very disappointing season and their worst Premier League finish in 24 years, Arsenal miraculously managed to win the FA cup, and they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final to do so, even knocking out Man City in the semi’s along the way.
