£10 to £1000 Challenge: Attempt 15, Week 1 Betting Tips

Why does everything in life have to end? After 16 winning bets, the latest attempt at the challenge came to an end when Atletico Goianiense – those footballing powerhouses – overcame the odds and upset the formbook with a 3-0 win over Ponte Preta.

More annoyingly, Goianiense lost their next game 0-2, meaning they have failed to score in four of their last five games….the anomaly being, well, you guessed it.

Our other selections landed, which means 18/19 selections in the last edition of the challenge were winners. But as we know, it’s the one that doesn’t succeed that ultimately counts.

Good betting is about analysing your wagers and summarising about what has gone well and what hasn’t so much. Our conclusion is that betting on the Brazilian Serie A, which is only about six games old this season, should perhaps be parked until more matches have been played; and thus more accurate assessments of the teams can be made. Any similarly early campaigns will be dismissed.

So here we go again then, armed with a tenner and a heart full of dreams and riches. Could this be the one?

Bet 1: Cork City vs Limerick: Cork/Draw Double Chance – £10 at 3/40

Friday June 16, 20:00

Over to the Emerald Isle for our first dip into the water. Cork City have been tearing up the League of Ireland as a form line of W16 D1 L0 highlights, and at home – W8 D0 L0 GF27 GA4 – they are, by sheer definition, unbeatable.

Limerick are the sheer definition of a mid-table side with their W6 D5 L6 efforts this term, and while they are capable a shaky defence – they’ve shipped 14 in their last six outings – means they are vulnerable to a decent attack.

At Cork, that is very much what they will come up against.

Bet 2: Cerezo Osaka vs Shimizu: Cerezo +1.00 Asian Handicap – £10.75 at 1/10

Saturday June 17, 11:00

The hosts here have shown some lovely form of late, with five wins in their last six. Most pleasing is their last four outings, which have yielded 5-2, 3-0, 2-1 and 4-0 victories.

So the mood must be good in the camp ahead of a home fixture against Shimizu S-Pulse, who are without a win in their last eight.

They are without a clean sheet in those eight, and given how free-flowing Cerezo have been the obvious narrative is that they will outscore the visitors here.>/p>

Bet 3: Atletico Rafaela vs Quilmes: Atletico Rafaela/Draw Double Chance – £11.82 at 1/6

Saturday June 17, 21:15

With only two defeats in their last nine an four wins in their last six outings, Atletico Rafaela should – on paper at least – be a reliable play this week.

They play a Quilmes side who are yet to win away this season (W0 D4 L9), and who are the lowest scoring side in the Argentine Premier Division with just 15 goals in 27 starts – they have failed to find the net in 10 of their last 12!

By contrast Rafaela have scored at least once in nine of their last twelve, so they should have the firepower to get a positive result here.

Bet 4: Gangwon vs Jeju United: Over 0.5 Second Half Goals – £13.79 at 1/5

Sunday June 18, 11:00

We’re taking a bit of a risk here, but there is plenty of logic to it. Gangwon have played 13 matches this season and 10 of those have witnessed a minimum of three goals. Both Teams to Score has landed in 12 all told.

Jeje United are hardly shrinking violets themselves. Over 2.5 Goals has landed in each of their last seven, with scorelines reading 1-2, 4-2, 1-2, 4-0, 4-1, 1-2 and 2-1.

This South Korean K League encounter should serve up plenty of goalmouth action; here’s hoping, anyway.
