Another week, another set of winning selections. That’s 12 in a row now, and we have all but broken the £50 barrier. Clearly, we are miles away from our £1k target, but that is milestone number one nearly reached.
Once again, our picks landed with consummate ease last week:
- Bet 9: North Geelong vs Green Gully: Green Gully Draw No Bet – it was another tough day at the office for North Geelong, with Green Gully winning this one 5-1.
- Bet 10: VPS vs JJK: VPS/Draw Double Chance – we actually watched this one live via the bet365 streaming service, and while VPS weren’t at their best they were good value for the 1-1 draw.
- Bet 11: Phil Taylor vs Gerwyn Price: Over 13.5 Legs – the Power put in a steady performance in his final World Matchplay ahead of retirement, winning 10-5 against Price.
- Bet 12: Ian White vs Rob Cross: Over 13.5 Legs – the much-hyped Cross was made to work for his win by White as we expected, eventually getting home 10-7.
So that’s £48.05 in the pocket – let’s see if we can smash our way past the £50 mark this week.
Bet 13: Peter Wright vs Darren Webster: Wright +2.5 Handicap – £48.05 at 1/12
Thursday July 27, 20:30
The three dart averages in darts often tell the story of how two players are performing For Wright, his leap from 89.26 in round one to 104.18 in round two tells us that he has found his feet in Blackpool at the World Matchplay, is confident and ready to play his best darts again.
As for Webster, 96.48 in the first round and 95.39 in the second, we see a player who is performing at a consistent level. But, and this is the key, if he averages around that 96 mark against Wright it probably won’t be good enough to win the match.
We’ve taken the plus handicap in Wright’s favour as insurance, but fully expect ‘Snakebite’ to complete a straightforward enough win in his own right.
Bet 14: Yanbian Funde vs Tianjin Quanjian: Tianjin +1.25 Asian Handicap – £54.06 at 1/8
Saturday July 29, 09:00
We’re off to China on Saturday morning to once again back a Tianjin side that has given us plenty of joy this season in this £10 to £1000 Challenge.
They have lost just one of their last nine matches (W7 D1 L1), netting two or more goals in six of their last eight. They have avoided defeat in 6/9 on the road.
So what chance do Yanbian have of causing an upset? You would say, on the face of it, very little. They’ve lost seven of their last eight outings, conceded 23 in those and were thumped 2-6 last time out by Guangzhou R&F, who themselves had lost three on the trot to that point.
Bet 15: Brommapojkarna vs Frej Taby: Bromma/Draw Double Chance – £60.82 at 1/12
Saturday July 29, 15:00
It’s the Swedish Superettan for us on Saturday afternoon, where league leaders Brommapojkarna (who we will be calling Bromma, if you don’t mind) host bottom-but-one Frej Taby.
The manner of Bromma’s ascent to the top of the table has been outstanding, with a formline of W12 D1 L2 backed by recent wins of 3-1, 4-0, 3-2 and 5-0. The mark of any strong side is the ability to put the ball in the net, and after a goalless draw to open the season they have since netted in all 13 at a rate of nearly three per game.
Frej Taby have lost five of their last six, but more pertinently they have done so at a goal difference of -10 – failing to score in 4/6 and conceding 14 in that half-dozen outings.
Bet 16: St Albans vs North Geelong: St Albans +1.25 Asian Handicap – £65.89 at 1/9
Sunday July 30, 06:00
Our final selection of the week sees us bet against North Geelong for the third straight week. What bullies!
But why wouldn’t we? They have lost nine on the bounce now, conceding a whopping 31 goals in the process and scoring just five. They are hopelessly outmatched in the Australian Victoria League.
Hosts St Albans are only one place above North Geelong in the table, but there’s one key difference between the two sides. In their last five games alone, St Albans have taken points off Bentleigh Greens (third) and Bulleen Lions (tenth) and beaten ninth-placed Kingston City.
Unlike North Geelong, they are moving in the right direction.
