Football Accumulator Tips: 14th – 19th July 2018

Accumulator TipsLast week’s football accumulator tips were something of a damp squib, to be honest.

Edinson Cavani’s absence for Uruguay saw them produce an incredibly negative performance against France, and also meant that our +1.00 Asian handicap line was downed in a 0-2 defeat.

Two of our other selections landed – Molde in fine style with a 5-1 win, and the remaining pair are still to run with the Champions League qualifiers starting tonight.

We are now out of World Cup mode with our acca tips; this column was written before England’s semi-final with Croatia, so we don’t actually know who will be in the final against France on Sunday. Let’s hope it’s the Three Lions!

As such, we’ve had to cast our net far and wide for this week’s football accumulator betting tips:

Match Recommended Bet Odds
Minnesota United vs Real Salt Lake Minnesota/Draw Double Chance 2/5
Orlando City vs Toronto FC Toronto/Draw Double Chance 2/5
Colorado Rapids vs Houston Dynamo Colorado/Draw Double Chance 7/10
Corinthians vs Botafogo Botafogo/Draw Double Chance 47/50
Trakai FK vs Irtysh Pavlodar Trakai/Draw Double Chance 8/15
Five-Fold Acca Odds 8.89/1

Minnesota United vs Real Salt Lake: Minnesota/Draw Double Chance

This is one of those selections where you have to stand back and look at the bigger picture.

Minnesota have lost four of their last five matches, but three of those came on the road and the fourth was a narrow 0-1 reverse at the hands of an excellent FC Dallas side.

The fifth game of that run was an entertaining 4-3 win over Toronto.

Real Salt Lake have won both of their last two games, but those were played in front of their own supporters. Their away form this term? W1 D1 L7, with a goal difference of -16.

Orlando City vs Toronto FC: Toronto/Draw Double Chance

These are dark times for Orlando. They’ve lost nine games in a row, and worst still the last six of those have been by two goals or more.

Injuries to Scott Sutter, Lamine Sane, Jonathan Spector and Cristian Higuain don’t help matters, nor does the employment of Bobby Murphy as interim head coach – Orlando have lost 0-4 and 1-4 under his guidance.

Toronto aren’t going so well but at least they score goals: their away tally of 14 is bettered by only three MLS sides. With Giovinco, Osorio and Vazquez in attack, the Canadians will never be shy of goal-getters.

Colorado Rapids vs Houston Dynamo: Colorado/Draw Double Chance

The 12/5 odds on Colorado to win this match just don’t make any sense. Okay, so they are languishing in the table, but their results suggest that they aren’t as bad as the league makes out.

In ten home matches this term they haven’t lost a game by more than one goal, which shows how competitive they are, and their mini formline of W2 D1 L2 is respectable enough.

Houston, for all their attacking guile in the form of Alberth Elis, Romell Quioto and co, have only won 1/8 on the road this term.

Corinthians vs Botafogo: Botafogo/Draw Double Chance

We’re going to take a chance on the away side in this Brazilian Serie A encounter, a division which returns next week after a month-long break.

The away side are a decent side according to our analytical model – certainly better than their ninth place suggests – and they will provide stern competition to a Corinthians outfit that doesn’t score goals.

The hosts netted just once in 360 minutes of football prior to the break, and they’ve scored six goals in as many games on home soil.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but we’re always willing to take on teams that find it very difficult to put the ball in the back of the net.

Trakai FK vs Irtysh Pavlodar: Trakai/Draw Double Chance

It’s off to the Europa League qualifying now, with Lithuanian side Trakai hosting Kazakhstani outfit Irtysh.

Trakai are the underdogs here – bizarre, actually – when you note that Irtysh are one place above the relegation zone in their domestic division, having lost four on the spin without scoring a goal.

We’re sure that Trakai aren’t akin to Brazil 1970, but they have already come through a qualifier in this tournament, and indeed they have won their last four home matches in the Europa League.
