  • FC Cincinnati vs DC United – Cincinnati may come into this game on the back of a two-game winning streak, but they were played off the park against Houston and somehow triumphed 2-1 at Chicago. Spencer Richey, their goalkeeper, was voted Man of the Match and Chicago missed a penalty, so you can tell how that game went. DC are no great shakes but Acosta is back from suspension here to join Rooney in attack. They’ve lost just one of their last seven.
  • Shkupi vs Pyunik – Shkupi, despite conceding a contentious early penalty, rallied and were 3-1 up after an hour in the first leg of this Europa League tie. Pyunik pulled level with two late goals, but the Macedonian outfit had shown enough to suggest they should be favourites here on home soil.
  • Torpedo Kutaisi vs Ordabasy Shymkent – If the first leg was a boxing match then Kutaisi’s corner would have thrown in the towel despite losing just 0-1. They conceded 66% of possessions, eight corners, nine shots on target and saw ten other efforts at their goal go high or wide. They mustered a solitary shot themselves, so Ordabasy have to be respected here even on away soil.
  • CS Craiova vs Sabail FC – In the first leg of this Europa League tie Sabail somehow managed to score twice without recording a single shot on target – answers on a postcard! On the flipside, Craiova scored three times, and the Romanians showed their obvious class. Sabail have lost seven of their last eight games in all competitions, and we don’t give them much hope here.
  • FC Inter vs Brondby – Brondby showed their superiority with a comprehensive 4-1 win in the first leg, and the Danish outfit also got their domestic campaign up and running with a 3-0 win the Superliga at the weekend. FC Inter – this is a Finnish outfit by the way, not Inter Milan – failed to muster a single shot at goal in the first fixture, and they hold no fear for Brondby here.
