Far from matching their previous season’s successes, Liverpool were lucky to come 3rd in the 2020/21 Premier League season. At one stage they had lost 6 of the last 7 games and were in 8th place, but clawed their way back with 69 points just behind old rivals Manchester United in 2nd.
The Reds didn’t manage to win anything this year, getting knocked out of both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup in the 4th round (to Man Utd and Arsenal respectively), and their Champions League bid ended at the quarter final stage with a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on aggregate.
They couldn’t even manage the Community Shield, which Arsenal won on penalties. Overall, their win ratio for the season was a middling 52.83% across all competitions, winning 28 of 53 matches.
