It was a truly hopeless effort from this column last time out, in fact the worst we have done for quite some time with just one le fog the five landing.
Mitigation is sought in the tiny fixture list available during the international break; we certainly left no stone unturned as we scoured the globe in our search for live both teams to score betting tips.
But we can rely on our bank of shot data this week as the main European and American leagues return, and so we are confident of returning to winning ways in this week’s BTTS tips.

Watford vs Manchester United – Yes (4/5)
This is one of those stinky fixtures where you almost expect Manchester United to come unstuck under Jose Mourinho.
Watford have won four from four this term, scoring two or more goals in each, and a more adventurous philosophy from Javi Gracia is clearly paying dividends for the Hornets.
Mourinho must find a way to keep them at bay without Phil Jones, who is out with a hamstring injury, and possibly Luke Shaw, whose impressive early season form earned him the England call-up where he suffered concussion against Spain.
United always look good for a goal – how can they not with Lukaku, Sanchez, Lingard and co? – but their defensive susceptibility will surely be tested by the confident Hornets.
Peterborough United vs Portsmouth – Yes (8/13)
The curious case of Peterborough United continues.
All of our performance data suggests they are ‘lucky’ to be top of League One, or at least their results have been better than their efforts warrant.
They have an excellent front three in Dembele, Cummings and Godden, but just one clean sheet kept in half-a-dozen appearances confirms problems exist at the other end of the pitch.
They will surely be tested by a Portsmouth side who average nearly two goals per game, and in Brett Pitman possess arguably the best frontman in the division.
Wycombe Wanderers vs Oxford United – Yes (4/5)
It’s been a topsy-turvy start to life in League One for Wycombe Wanderers, although there lust for goals has not been diminished by promotion.
BTTS has landed in each of the Chairboys’ last five outings, and that’s a run which has coincided with improved performances from Gareth Ainsworth’s men.
Oxford appeared to have turned a corner with victory over Burton Albion and a respectable point away at Sunderland, but they crumbled in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Sunday and went down 1-2 to Coventry City.
The bigger picture is that BTTS has landed in each of their last five too, and so the weight of numbers suggests plenty more goalmouth action to come in Saturday’s meeting.
Toronto FC vs LA Galaxy – Yes (2/5)
The staggering goal-laden adventures of LA Galaxy continue.
The present employer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic have delivered Over 2.5 Goals in 13 of their last 14 matches, with BTTS hitting the spot in 11.
Just look at their most recent scorelines on the road: 2-6, 0-5, 1-2, 2-2, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3. It almost feels as if both teams scoring is an inevitability.
Hosts Toronto are rather less garrulous, but a handsome 34 of their 45 goals scored have come in open play, which hints at a relative dynamism in attack.
Indeed, if we overlook a 0-1 defeat to a classy New York Red Bulls side, the Canadians’ most recent home matches have ended 2-4, 3-1, 2-3, 3-0, 4-4. They are certainly capable in front of goal on home soil.
San Jose Earthquakes vs Sporting Kansas City – Yes (1/2)
San Jose Earthquakes are the gift that keeps on giving as far as BTTS punters are concerned.
Sat rock bottom of the combined MLS table, they have still bagged an impressive 41 goals in 27 appearances, which is more than a handful of sides in the top half of the division have mustered.
But you don’t prop up the table if you can defend well, and San Jose’s goals against tally of 52 tells its own story.
Sporting KC have kept five clean sheets in their last six games, which might set alarm bells ringing, but actually if we take a real close look we see signs of weakness.
In their penultimate start, the Kansas outfit were thumped 1-3 by Seattle, and last time out they struggled past a hapless Orlando side, who right now are probably the worst in the MLS.
