  • Watford vs Burnley – Respect goes to Quique Sanches Flores, who has turned Watford’s season around. Three clean sheets in their last five has led to a formline of W1 D3 L1, which is far rosier than where they were before. However, the Hornets are not flying without problems, and Burnley continue to be underrated by the bookies. Humbled at Sheffield United, Sean Dyche tore into his players. The result? A 3-0 thrashing of West Ham next time out. This is a manager who knows how to get the best from his players.
  • Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City – Take the results out of the equation, and focus on the recent underlying performance data, and Birmingham are a curious underdog here. The Midlanders have enjoyed genuine supremacy against the likes of Fulham, Middlesbrough and Luton, and while Huddersfield’s recent form (W3 D2 L1) is great their performances haven’t necessarily matched. The Cowley brothers are experts at fashioning results, but they might find Birmingham too hot to handle here.
  • Middlesbrough vs Hull City – A tasty north east derby here, and it’s hard to make much of a case for Middlesbrough. A formline of W0 D4 L5, failing to score in four of their last five games, does not do much to build optimism. Hull, on the other hand, are trending nicely. They won three on the bounce prior to a 0-1 defeat to top-of-the-league West Brom, and the Tigers will bare their teeth once more here.
  • Fleetwood Town vs Tranmere Rovers – A week off last time out will have done wonders for Fleetwood, who have gone somewhat off the boil since their flying start to the season. That said, defeats to Ipswich, Coventry and an upwardly-mobile Bolton are tough games, and the seasiders should have things more their own way here. Tranmere pick up results every once in a while, but they generally get played off the pitch as far as big chance creation is concerned.
  • Rochdale vs Portsmouth – Portsmouth have turned the corner as far as their performances have been concerned of late, with a demolition of Southend last time out backed by points taken from Bristol Rovers and the relentless Oxford United. Rochdale, well, on the back of four straight defeats there’s not a huge deal to like about them. They’ve won just 2/9 on home soil, with a negative goal difference outlining their problems.
